My name is Rehman and I am a Community Health Worker in Karachi, Pakistan. Before the lockdown, we visited different communities to spread awareness and provide support for various healthcare and social issues. During the pandemic, a new aspect has been added to my role. I am now tasked with screening people for the disease.
I take care of my safety by wearing gloves, a surgical mask and by frequently using hand sanitizer but my wife sometimes gets worried and asks me to quit. We have a one-year-old son – he reminds me that a lot of children and their parents’ safety depends on me.
Performing my duty with diligence is necessary, especially in these challenging times. Hope is the only thing that can get us through this crisis- Corona de darna nahin, larna hai! (Don’t be scared of Corona, fight it!)
